I make website templates for travel advisors, and I'm hopelessly travel obsessed, which is honestly the whole reason I'm good at this. I know your clients because I am your client.
Hi there, I'm Jen
Welcome to the Blog
Designer, SEO Expert, transplant advocate,
and adventure addict.
Let’s be real, starting with your host agency page as a travel advisor website is like a right of passage. Everyone starts here. It’s included, it’s fast, and in those first few months, it feels like plenty. But then your business starts to get real, real clients, real fees, real referrals, and that shared page starts to feel more like a borrowed suitcase than a home base.
At a minimum you suspect that your own website is the long term goal, but what do you do in the meantime?
Let’s talk about how to use your host agency page as a temporary launchpad instead of a permanent solution.

A host agency profile is built to serve the host first. Their brand, their SEO, their structure. So you need to be realistic about what it is, but that doesn’t make it completely useless.
For now, think of it as
You’re not trying to turn it into your dream site. You’re making it “good enough” to support your business while you work on the real thing.

Host agency pages love generic phrasing.
If the default copy sounds like it could apply to any of the 300 advisors sharing that platform, your job is to make it unmistakably you.
On your profile –
You’re still living inside their container, but you’re doing what you can to make your corner of it feel like your business.

Most host pages bury the actual “what to do next” under generic buttons and long copy.
Fix that by:
If the platform lets you add links, use them:
Nobody should have to scroll and guess what to do. Even on a borrowed page.

Remember when you eventually leave this first step, the only way to take the content with you is copy / paste. So don’t spend a lot of time building detailed guides or content. Instead put that time to something else that is actually helping your business get clients right now, however that looks! Worry about building a more content rich website when it’s actually yours, helps your own SEO, and can work harder for you.
So for now, basic info (niche, services, short bio, way to reach out)
Save everything else for your own website, when it will give you more bang for your time.

The real harm of a host agency “website” page is when it becomes your default forever.
All the reasons I chat about in “Do travel advisors need their own website” come into play here. Google Business Profile verification, DNS access, email list ownership, AI search, credibility, etc… they all require your own website.
So, set an actual (written down!) goal. “I will have my own website and domain live by (mo, yr)
Then work through these tasks to prepare –
Your host agency page keeps things moving while you build.

After you get your new website live, we’re gonna make a few key changes to your host agency page too. Instead of being a landing page, now we want it to be more of a directory that leads people to your real business home base, and it will keep the credibility anchor for your business as well, which is great!
Update your profile –
Something like “Want to see how I work and what I plan? You’ll find my full services, process, and inquiry form at [yourdomain.com].”
That way, anyone who discovers you through the host still ends up on the site you own.

When you hit that point of “this host page has done its job, but it’s not enough anymore,” you don’t have to jump straight into a custom website! Templates are a great option that give you everything you need from a website, without the custom price tag, and I offer template customization as well if you don’t have the time to DIY.
TL;DR
Because your host page was always meant to be a stepping stone.
Your JetSite website is the place you’re building for the long haul.
