Your JetSite template, here's how to open it
JetSite websites live on a platform called Showit. It's a drag + drop website builder that gives you complete visual control over your site. No code, no developer, no feeling like your own website is out of your hands.
You can start with the free Showit account to open your template, and customize it, and the steps below will walk you through the whole thing. Takes about five minutes.
This page and setup should be done on your computer, this is just here to browse the overview, but move to a computer to setup your website :)

Create your Showit account
Install Your Template in Showit
STEP 1
Head to Showit using this link → Showit
Once you’re there, click “Create Your Site” in the top right corner.
STEP 2
Enter your email and complete the quick signup form. That’s it, your account will be created.
STEP 3
After signup, Showit will guide you to their Chrome platform dashboard. This is where you’ll actually edit your website, so I recommend bookmarking it for easy access:

Once your Showit account is set up, you’re ready to add your new template! (instructions below)
1. Login
Log in to your Showit account and click on your name in the bottom left corner, then find 'Add to Library"
3. Create new
Click on your name on the bottom left corner again, then find Create New Design, choose your new template
2. Add design
Paste your unique share key when prompted and click
"Add Design'
4. Start customizing
Your template is now ready to customize! Make it yours and publish with confidence.

The Showit Cheat Sheet
The things everyone asks about the first time they're in Showit. Keep this open in another tab while you work
Double click directly on any text on the canvas, type your changes, then click anywhere outside the text box when you're done.
How do I edit text?
Double click an image to select it. That will open up your media library where you can upload and organize, then select the image you want to use.
Tip: Showit will match the crop automatically, you can adjust it after.
How do I Change images?
Click once on the element to select it.
Drag it to move it. Drag the blue handles at the corners or edges to resize.
Hold Shift while resizing to keep proportions locked.
How do I move or resize an element?
Ctrl + Z (Windows) or Cmd + Z (Mac) to undo.
You can undo multiple steps.
Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + Z to redo if you go too far.
How do I undo a mistake?
Showit Basics
Showit auto-saves as you work for you as you go, look for 'Saved' three little dots in the top right bar, next to "Preview"
Saving is different from publishing, saved changes are not live on your site until you publish, so you can pause work and come back later without affecting your live website.
How do I save my work?
Before publishing for the very first time you will need to go through the steps to setup your domain and DNS - you can find that here >
After you site is live, you can click the blue "Publish" button in the top right corner of the editor anytime, and then any changes you have made since your last publish will go live immediately.
Tip: Sometimes your cache won't clear so you don't see changes live yourself, but check on another device or incognito window, they are live.
How do I publish my site?
Saving & Publishing
One of the best things about Showit!
Showit lets you design desktop and mobile versions separately, or together, usually a mix of both is best.
A change you make on desktop does not automatically apply to mobile, and vice versa. But if you keep the layers the same the images and text will change on both.
Always check both views before publishing, what looks great on desktop can look different on
mobile.
Switch between views using the desktop/mobile icons in the bottom left of the editor screen.
Why does Showit have two views, desktop and mobile?
Mobile & Desktop Views
Showit treats desktop and mobile as independent canvases.
You'll need to make the same change in both views.
This is a feature, not a bug, it gives you full control over how each version looks.
* Important Tip! In templates the spacing around text is set for mobile and desktop independently, so when you are replacing text in your site make sure you check mobile and desktop for adequate space for your new copy.
I changed something on desktop but it looks different on mobile. Why?
In the left sidebar, at the top, make sure you are on the 'Site' tab, then click the "+" icon at the top of the pages list.
Choose whether to start blank or copy from an existing page, and give the page a name.
Tip: You can duplicate pages as well, which is faster, it brings over your fonts, colors, and layout. Click the 3 little dots by the page you want to duplicate, and choose duplicate.

In the 'site' tab, click the 3 dots on the page you want to remove, and select "Delete Page"
Make sure you're sure first. Undo doesn't always work in this case.
How do I delete a page?
In the 'site' tab, click the 3 dots on the page you want to rename, and select "Rename"
Update the page name - this changes the tab name and the url. Click Save. If the page is already published, republish after changing.

Open this before you start and check things off as you go.
What you need to have ready first
Your design ready to launch
Make sure your website design is done, and ready to go!
Get your website domain name
Only needed if you don't have one yet. Already have a domain? Skip to the next phase below.
Register your domain name
Head to godaddy.com, search for the name you want, and grab it. Usually $12–20/year for a .com. Keep it close to your business name and easy to type, don't overthink it.
At checkout, skip everything GoDaddy tries to add. Website builder, email hosting, SSL, security packages, you don't need any of it.
The one thing worth adding: Domain Privacy & Protection (~$20/year). It helps keep your info and url safe.

Create a google business profile
The best part of having your own website with access to your DNS is now you can get past that pesky "verify business" step with your Google Business Profile! So go take advantage of that right away! You will choose to verify through your domain name and it will connect to your domain name company to help you through it.
Then update everything, link to your new website, ask for reviews, add services, etc ... build this thing out!

Update all your business materials with your new URL
Submit your site to Google Search Console
search.google.com/search-console It connects your site to Google so it starts getting indexed right away. When you go to that site, choose get started and then it will walk you through it. You want to submit your site index from the menu on the left once your account is setup and authorized. Your site index is this url - {yourdomain.com}/siteinfo.xml
Connecting your domain
DNS Settings
Once Showit has your website ready, they will email you with directions on editing your DNS. This sounds scary, but they walk you through it, and you got this! Follow their instructions to delete / add what they tell you, and then you'll go back to your Showit dashboad and initiate a chat with them. Tell them your DNS is done, and ask them to "add SSL please" - they will add this and let you know the site will be ready to publish in about an hour!
Once your domain is connected, & DNS Propogated, publish to domain!
Check that your correct domain url is in the 'custom domain' box in the site settings, and then click blue button in the upper right - "PUBLISH"
Check out your live site!
This is what the world sees now. Visit your URL on both desktop and your phone, and fix any issues in the Showit app, then republish.
Share with one trusted person for a final read
Fresh eyes catch things you've stopped seeing, haha! Plus now that it's actually real it's smart to test everything again.
Have your domain login details ready
You'll need access to wherever your domain is registered. GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, etc
In Showit, go to Site Settings → Site information → Custom domain
Add your domain name here and submit it, and Showit will setup your website for that url.
Before you publish
Preview the site
Use Showit's preview function to see the full site before publishing. IMPORTANT - send the link to your phone and go through the full site on a mobile device as well!
Test your contact form
You can do this through the preview link, fill it in and submit. Confirm you receive the notification email.
Test every button and link
Not the most thrilling step, but broken = bad! Click every CTA button, every nav link, every footer link. Confirm they all go somewhere.
Check all pages for typos
Read through every page slowly. Better yet, read it out loud, or send your preview link to some friends.
Add your favicon
Site Settings → Favicon. This is the small icon that shows in the browser tab. Use a brandmark if you have one. 1x1 Ratio
Update your page titles and meta descriptions
In Page Settings for each page. These are what show up in Google search results.
*Tip - from the 'site' tab in the upper left, click through each page, and the page settings will appear over on the right side menu - SEO Settings tab - if you are editing on a page, the page menu goes away.
