Hi there, I'm Jen
Welcome to the Blog
Designer, SEO Expert, transplant advocate,
and adventure addict.
Feeling stuck on website layout planning? Start with one clear decision that makes everything else simpler, and easier to move forward.

If you’re starting a business (or giving yours a much-needed reset for 2026), it’s very easy to feel like you need to have everything figured out before you begin.
A full website. A polished brand. Perfect messaging. A plan for every platform known to woman.
Let me save you some stress: You actually don’t.
There’s one decision that matters more than all of that, and making it early will save you a lot of time, money, and second guessing.
What do you want someone to do after they visit your website?
Not someday, not ideally, not “once I finish the rest of it.” … Right now.
This one decision quietly shapes everything that comes next, and it’s the foundation of smart website layout planning, whether you realize it or not.
It shapes
Without it, even the prettiest website feels a little all over the place, yikes.
When you can’t answer that small question clearly then
And suddenly your website feels “unfinished,” even though you’ve already spent way too much time on it.
That’s not a motivation issue.
That’s a clarity issue.

Especially not at the beginning.
(I know, not something you expect to hear from your web designer)
But, I say it cause it’s true. It just needs to do one thing well. Hopefully really well!
That thing might be:
There’s no universal “right” answer, just the right one for this season of your business.
And yes, it can change later. Websites are allowed to evolve. Promise!

Ask yourself this: If someone leaves my website and does only one thing, what would actually move my business forward right now?
Write it down.
Don’t workshop it.
Don’t make it fancy.
That’s your primary action.
And now, going forward, everything else on your website should support that, not compete with it.
This is the place where website layout planning stops feeling overwhelming, and starts feeling logical. Writing copy should feel less intimidating, choosing layouts should make more sense, you should stop adding “just incase” content to your website, and your site should really start to feel more intentional and less chaotic.
But most importantly you should feel way more confident sharing your site because you finally really know what it is meant to do.

This one decision won’t magically fix everything, but it should make everything else simpler, and that is a really great place to start!
Building your business thoughtfully is important for your clients, and your own sanity.
And if you find yourself wanting support building a brand or website around clarity instead of pressure, that is exactly why JetSite & Roam exists, so send me a message or even check out the quarterly complimentary sessions I host, here.
But even if you’re just figuring things out on your own right now, start here. Start with knowing exactly what you want your site visitors to do after they visit your website. It really is the perfect place to build from.
You’re doing better than you think.
